The high winds from Storm Arwen through Friday night and most of Saturday gave the new roof a bit of a battering. The boarding and battening continues!
More boards and battening, more slates removed and more scaffolding added. The extra scaffolding is needed as the roof pitch is too great and removing the tiles would be unsafe.
Breathable membrane has been attached on the boarded side of the roof at the bottom and on the ridge. On the unboarded side a detail is being constructed to lift water away from the valley area that was originally problematic. … Continued
The first of the sarking boards went on today. We are using Schneider Top 220 woodfibre insulation boards from Ty Mawr on the rafters. Some of the wood that suffered with dry rot has been chopped out and replaced.
