The wood was all prepped and filled and treated with preservative and the first grey undercoat applied. Second grey undercoat. First coat of exterior black satin. The second black coat and the first of the UPVC soffits fitted.
Final push and the roof is finished! Now begins the job of prepping the woodwork for painting and adding battens so that UPVC soffit can be attached to the underside of the roof overhang.
Work has continued on slating and replacing rotten woodwork. We are trying to keep as much of the existing detail as possible and replace some of what we know was once there from old photographs and the evidence in the … Continued
Today work started on stripping and replacing the last section of roof. Once again we were lucky and the woodwork was in good condition and only a woodwormed section of beam will need to be chopped out and replaced.
The slating and leadwork continues. We have also started stripping the paint on some of the woodwork in readiness for it being repainted.
